Flat and Curved Space-Times
Published in Hardcover by Oxford University Press (January, 2001)
Authors: Ruth M. Williams and George Francis Rayner Ellis
Average review score:

An excellent and crystal clear presentation of relativity.
This is one of the best introductions to the subject that I've read. The explanations are transparent with ample illustrations and examples. There are also many exercises to help the reader enforce what he has learned. There is also a very helpful annoted bibliography (actually the Afterword) which guides the reader to more advanced reading.

It is really a shame that this book is not quoted more often. Overall, this is a very fine book.

Author: Carl F., Jr. Ellis
Average review score:

BIBLICAL BALANCE BETWEEN ULTRACONSERVATISM AND LIBERALISM
CARL, A MAN WHO LOVES GOD AND SEEKS TO OBEY HIM, TAKES A HARD LOOK AT THE PRACTICE OF AMERICAN CHRISTIANITY. HE LEVELS NEEDED CRITICISM AND INSTRUCTION. HE MAKES A CLEAR DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE PRACTICE OF CHRISTIANITY AS A RELIGION AND FOLLOWING CHRIST AS A BELIEVER. IF CARL'S PROPHETIC VOICE IS HEEDED, WE WILL HAVE A STRONGER BODY WHICH WILL BRING GLORY TO GOD RATHER THAN CAUSE HIM TO HANG HIS HEAD IN SHAME BECAUSE OF OUR HYPOCRISY AND DIVISION.

An essential for anyone who works with volunteers
This book puts forth ideas and resources that are changing the ways people view, value and involve volunteers. It represents the growing profound shift in how organizations should think about volunteer contributions and support for those volunteers. If you are part of an organization that involves volunteers, whether or not you yourself work with them directly, this book is ESSENTIAL for your bookshelf. Written by one of the most respected authorities on volunteersim and volunteer management in the world, Susan Ellis outlines the key executive decisions necessary to lay the foundation for effective volunteer involvement: policies, budgeting, staffing, employee-volunteer relationships, legal issues, and the value of volunteers beyond financial. Prepare to be challenged, and prepare to have traditional ideas about what volunteers represent swept away. This is an empowering and practical read, and a book you will reach for again and again.

Excellent book useful for the do it yourself gardener.
If you have a sunny, shady, wet, sloped or dry location this book has plans for them all. It is useful in designing your own garden or simply use one of the many plans provided. The color photographs are extensive and include complete gardens so you can see how different plants look together. This book takes the guess work out by providing the size, color(s), bloom time and growing zones for each plant reviewed. There is also some information on annuals, bulbs and shrubs that work well in a prennial garden. There are even tips on attracting butterflies to your garden. Overall, this book is full of great ideas for any type of garden you may be planning.

Gay Men at Mid-Life: Age Before Beauty
Published in Paperback by Harrington Park Pr (March, 2001)
Author: Alan L. Ellis
Average review score:

A helpful and fascinating collection of stories
The diverse experiences of the fifteen men who share their stories in this book provide an intriguing and helpful look at what it means to be gay and in midlife. There are only a few books on this subject (Kooden's Golden Men and Isensee's Are You Ready), each of which provides its own unique contribution to this area. I would highly recommend this book as well as the other two.
